Hungary’s Minister of Finance has set a new quota limit for Work Permits issued to Immigrants. This year 57,000 Work Permits will be offered to Immigrants outside of European Union. The country published this notice in the latest issue of the official journal Hivatalos Értesít? shows.
In 2018, the Hungarian Government issued nearly 11,000 Work Permits to non-EU Immigrants. Sándor Bodó, the State Secretary of labour policy confirmed the news. The number has increased significantly this year, as quoted by Budapest Business Journal. Even the increase rate has gone up exponentially in 2019.
In 2017, about 9,300 Work Permits were issued. The data for the employment of non-EU Immigrants is yet to be published. The National Employment Office (NFSZ) releases this data every year. The latest data is based on details published on the website of Parliament.
Bodó added that hiring non-EU Immigrants will not be straightforward. Employers must provide sufficient data proving that they could not find a suitable match in the EU countries. The local labour market is not being utilized fully. That’s a matter of concern for the country, he reinforced.
Hungary aims at easing the labour shortage issue in the country. There are hundreds of jobs that often do not find suitable profiles in the EU countries. The quota limit has been increased for those jobs and employers. It opens doors to thousands of Immigrants across the globe. The aim is to improve the economy of the country. Skilled and Experienced Immigrants should be able to help them achieve that.
The State Secretary further pressed the point that employers must look for profiles in EU countries. If they fail to find any, they’d have to present the evidence of the same to the Government. The Government will then give them the required approvals. Once they receive the same, they can go ahead with the recruitment of non-EU Immigrants.

Great News! Canada Opens PR Pathway for Education Students
*Want to migrate to Canada? Sign up with Y-Axis for end-to-end assistance.
Canada’s immigration updates now give international students in education a clear pathway from temporary study to permanent residency. By pursuing the right programs, gaining Canadian work experience, and using Express Entry’s new category-based selection, students can move step by step toward PR.
Stage 1: Choosing a Study Program
Students must enroll in a PGWP-eligible program at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Even programs below a bachelor’s level, such as Early Childhood Education diplomas, now qualify. For regulated professions, like early childhood educators in Ontario, registration with the provincial authority is required to work legally and gain full eligibility under Express Entry.
Stage 2: Getting a PGWP
After graduation, students can apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), valid for up to three years depending on the program length. Since June 25, 2025, education has been added as a PGWP-eligible field of study. Language requirements apply—CLB 5 for college-level programs and CLB 7 for university-level programs. The PGWP provides graduates with open work rights, allowing them to gain Canadian work experience needed for immigration.
Stage 3: Pursuing Permanent Residence
With at least one year of Canadian work experience, graduates become eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and gain additional points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Education professionals also benefit from category-based Express Entry draws, where recent cut-offs were as low as 479 CRS, compared to 534 in general CEC draws.
Example: Candidates like Taima—an Early Childhood Education graduate with strong English proficiency and Canadian work experience—can achieve competitive CRS scores and secure an Invitation to Apply (ITA). A Bridging Open Work Permit can also be requested to maintain legal status while PR applications are processed.
*Want to apply for Canada PR? Let Y-Axis guide you with the process.
One of the most important updates for international students in education is the advantage they now have in Express Entry draws. With education professionals included in Canada’s category-based selection, candidates in this field no longer need as high a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score as others to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
For international students, especially from India, this policy shift opens up greater chances of permanent settlement while meeting Canada’s growing demand for skilled educators.

New Rule! U.S. visa applicants must now apply in their home country, State Department.
*Want to apply for a US visa? Let Y-Axis help you with the process.

U.S. Department of State mandates in-person interviews for all US visas, with immediate effect.
The new U.S. visa interview rule makes one thing very clear, Indian applicants must prepare smarter and earlier than ever before. With the option to book appointments in third countries now closed, the demand on U.S. consulates in India is expected to surge.
India is already one of the busiest countries for U.S. visa processing. In 2023 alone, more than 1.4 million U.S. visas were issued to Indians, including a record 140,000 student visas. This makes Indian nationals the largest group of international students in the United States
For students planning to join U.S. universities, professionals applying for work visas, and families preparing for visits, this change means careful planning is essential. Applicants should keep track of appointment availability, gather their documents early, and allow extra time for processing.
With visitor visa wait times already exceeding 500 days in India, the competition for slots is only expected to grow. The key takeaway for Indian applicants is to stay informed, act quickly, and plan well in advance to avoid disruptions to their study, work, or travel plans.

Ontario’s “As of Right” framework, launching on January 1, 2026, offers skilled workers a much faster route to begin their careers in the province.
To benefit from these changes, professionals can follow a simple pathway:
Step 1: Find your regulator
Each regulated profession in Ontario is overseen by a specific regulatory authority. The first step is to identify the body that governs your field.
Step 2: Apply under mobility provisions
Submit your application under the labour mobility process, ensuring it meets the authority’s requirements.
Step 3: Prepare your documents
Credentials, proof of certification, and other supporting materials will be needed to verify your eligibility.
Step 4: Get a timely decision
Ontario’s regulators are required to make a decision within 30 calendar days, eliminating long delays.
Step 5: Start working quickly
Once validated, you can begin working in Ontario within 10 business days, with up to six months provided to complete full registration.
This streamlined process ensures that qualified professionals can enter Ontario’s workforce faster, giving both workers and employers the chance to meet labour market needs without unnecessary waiting periods.
