The people of Telangana state who intend to work in Gulf countries were told to migrate safely and legally by Shashank Goel, Telangana’s Principal Secretary of Department of Labour.
Goel and D Krishna Bhaskar, District Collector of Rajanna Sircilla district, jointly inaugurated a two-day workshop and a special passport fair, which was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs in partnership with TOMCOM (Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited), Government of Telangana, and UN Women and ICM (Indian Centre for Migration) at Podupu Bhavan in the district on 25 October.
Goel, addressing on the occasion, was quoted by The Hans India as saying that a lot of people with minimum working skills who go to Gulf countries were facing tough times after landing there.
He said these people need to seek safe and legal migration procedures before landing there. He said that workshops were being conducted in a bid to raise awareness about these issues.
The prevailing situation in these countries, their laws, systems and salaries would be explained in detail at a workshop organised for the people.
Adding that gullible job seekers were being hoodwinked by fraud agents, Goel asked people to seek help only from authorised migration agents and those recognised by the government.
Krishna Bhaskar exhorted the people to attend the awareness camp and get their doubts clarified. He said that governments were ever willing to address the concerns people were facing with regard to migration.
