Germany is considering easing Work Visas for skilled overseas workers from non-EU nations. A proposal to this effect is being examined by the German Cabinet. This is in attempts to overcome the acute scarcity of skilled workers in the nation. The proposal includes easy immigrations and Germany Work Visas process for non-EU workers.
The German Ministries of Economy, Labor and Interior are unanimous for recruiting more overseas skilled workers. This has been reported by the Reuters based on a paper that it has accessed.
The recommendation of the paper is awaiting the approval of the German Cabinet. Once approved, non-EU overseas graduates and workers having vocational training will be approved to arrive in Germany. They will also be authorized to search for German jobs within a specific time period. This is subject to fulfilling related language and qualification criteria, as quoted by Little India.
The immigrants will not be entitled to social welfare benefits while they are searching Jobs in Germany. Nevertheless, they will be permitted to be employed in jobs for which they are overqualified. They will thus be able to earn some money adds the paper.
The recommendation paper also has an additional proposal. It is that the Government must not insist search for local German nationals by firms prior to overseas hiring. The other proposals include pacing up procedures for recognition of qualifications in Germany. It also recommends the possibility of an advertising campaign in select nations, as quoted by Little India.
Germany is witnessing a scarcity of skilled young workers. This is for taking up the 3.5 years of OJT /on-the-job training. The scarcity is resulting in a wide gap between the supply and demand of workers in the nation.
