Fresh referendum for final Brexit deal demanded

A fresh referendum for the final Brexit deal has been demanded by a cross-party campaign. It has been insisted that the views of the UK public must also be considered and not just politicians. The campaign People’s Vote has demanded a fresh referendum for ratification of the final Brexit deal by the public.

The concluding deal between the UK and the EU is scheduled to be signed in October. This will be prior to the UK’s exit in March 2019 defined by the terms of the deal, as quoted by the New Indian Express.

Thousand plus people jam-packed the North London Electric Ballroom venue for the launch of the campaign People’s Vote. The venue was highlighted by pints, posters, flags, and T-shirts.

UK lawmakers cutting across party lines were present at the launch of the campaign. This includes ruling Conservative party and the opposition Green, Democrat, Liberal, and Labor parties. Layla Moran the MP of the Liberal party said that this will be a vote for the ratification of the final Brexit deal. It is diverse from the initial views of the public when they voted in favor of the exit, added the MP.

A transition period will be effective till the conclusion of 2020 after the UK’s from the EU. The transition agreement needs the concurrence of the UK plus 27 EU nations on the terms of divorce by October. This is the deadline set by Brussels for wrapping up the talks.

Moran said that any fresh referendum needs to be done after the deal is finalized in October. It must also be held prior to the deadline date for Brexit in March 2019. This means that the campaigners have a short time.
