Fresh enrollment for US Green Card Lottery commences 18 October

Fresh enrollment for US Green Card Lottery, the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program commences on 18 October. All applicants of the US Green card through this visa program are required to file their applications before 22 November for consideration of their entries.

The fresh registration for the US Green Card Lottery had actually commenced on October 3. But it had to be re-commenced as all entries filed between 3 October and 10 October was lost due to a technical issue. The message on the website of the US State Department read that entries filed during October 3 to 10 are invalid. They have been removed from the system and will not be counted as a duplicate entry. Duplicate entries disqualify the prospective immigrants, as quoted by the New Delhi Times.

The message on the US State Department website further said that the technical issue has been resolved now. Fresh full-fledged enrollment for US Green Card Lottery commences 18 October and will be operational until 22 November 2017.

The message on the website also directs the applicants to discard any confirmation number received by them. It is applicable for the number received for applications submitted between 3 to 10 October.

US State Department will be communicating through automated email notifications to every single applicant who filed an application in early October. It will instruct them to check the website dvlottery.state.gov for a crucial announcement. This was informed by the spokesperson of the department Pooja Jhunjhunwala.

The spokesperson also elaborated that the US Consulates and Embassies will apprise the prospective applicants of the situation. They will also be informed regarding the fresh registration period. The US offered 48, 097 diversity visas in the fiscal year 2015.
