Statistically, 2017 has been the biggest ever year for Canada’s immigration system as fresh Canada Express entry records created were created in 2017 – Q2. The highest number of candidates was offered the ITAs for Canada PR in the second quarter of 2017.
Apart from the increase in the number of ITAs 2017 also witnessed the Comprehensive Ranking System scores reach a record low. CRS scores decide the number of applicants who would receive the ITAs in that particular Canada Express entry draw, as quoted by the CIC News.
Additionally, IRCC started awarding extra points to applicants with siblings in Canada and French language ability. New strategies for inviting specific candidates via draws that are program specific were also devised by the IRCC.
All these activities in Canada Express entry draws were preceded by the first quarter that witnessed an increase in the number of ITAs. This was responsible for the decrease in the CRS threshold scores. One record setting quarter has been preceded by other establishing diverse records. This must give much optimism for the Canada Express entry applicants for the remaining second half of 2017.
26, 653 ITAs were issued in 2017 Q2 which was more than the 24, 632 ITAs that were issued in 2017 Q1. It was also twice the 13, 202 ITAs issued in the 2016 – Q4. In 2015 – Q2 5, 821 ITAs were offered and 2016 -Q2 6, 077 ITAs were offered.
Nine Canada Express entry draws were held in 2017 –Q2 and four of these created records for lowest CRS scores.
Similar to the trends in early months of 2017, CRS scores threshold decreased through April – June period largely owing to increase in the number of ITAs offered to applicants. The CRS threshold, in fact, reached as low as 413 on May 31, 2017, for Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Class applicants.
