Free 2-day UAE Transit Visa available for travellers

The United Arab Emirates has announced the launch of free 2-day Transit Visa. The UAE Transit Visa would be available for free for up to 48 hours. It only applies to travellers stopping by the country with confirmed onward journeys.

The UAE Transit Visa can be extended up to 4 days, as quoted by The Times of India. The cost of the same is AED 50. Ali Al Shaibah, the ED of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism confirmed the news. He further added that they had announced the UAE Transit Visa in April 2018.

The news came at a time when Abu Dhabi’s relation with India had hit rock bottom. Jet Airways had removed all its flights in the UAE. Abu Dhabi based Etihad was supposed to help the cash-strapped airlines. But that did not happen.

The UAE has been the biggest International Destination for Indians. The UAE aims at gaining more visitors to the country. In 2018, they received about 1 crore Overseas Visitors. India and China are the top 2 markets for them. The UK stands next on the list. The UAE Transit Visa is aimed at endorsing the tourism sector of the country. This will help the country further strengthen its economy.

The launch of the UAE Transit Visa has given a fillip to the tourism sector. The number of visitors is expected to rise even further this year.
