Thailand Foreigners in Thailand aged over 50 belonging to 14 countries will be able to apply for 10-year visas soon. Proposed initially in November 2016 in order to promote this Southeast Asian country as a health and wellness hub, the new Non X visa was formally approved in the second week of June by the Prime Minister of Thailand. Eligible for these visas are nationals of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and the United States of America. Applicants for these visas must have at least THB3 million in a Thai bank account or THB1.8 million in the bank and an income of minimum THB1.2 million. An amount of THB3 million needs to be deposited in the bank for one year. It can, however, be as low as THB1.5 million in certain conditions. Buriram Times said that criminal background checks are necessary for all applicants, who also need to have valid medical insurance from an insurance company in Thailand for the duration of their stay. But these visa holders are not permitted to work in Thailand and they have to report every 90 days. Non O X visa is expected to be issued starting 11 August. If you are looking to travel to Thailand, get in touch with Y-Axis, a leading immigration consultancy company, to apply for a visa.
