Foreign Worker Stream

UPDATE: The stream has now closed till further notice.

From July 21, 2020, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program [OINP] has begun accepting applications for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream.

Earlier – on March 3, 2020 – 2 Employer Job Offer streams were opened and closed on the same day, having reached their intake limit.

The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream, a Canada immigration stream under the OINP, is open both for foreign workers within Canada as well as overseas.

The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream provides foreign workers – that have a job offer in a skilled occupation under Skill Level A/B or Skill Type 0 as per the National Occupational Classification [NOC] – with an opportunity of applying to work and live in Ontario permanently.

NOC Skill Type 0 Management jobs. For example, a restaurant manager.
NOC Skill Level A Professional jobs, usually requiring a university degree. For example, doctors.
NOC Skill Level B Technical trades/jobs, usually requiring either training as an apprentice or college diploma. For example, electricians.

As per the 2020 Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Updates, “Once the intake limit has been met, the system will automatically prevent further registrations from being submitted.

Due to the high volume of users accessing the e-Filing portal at the time of opening, you may be placed in a priority queue. This is not a technical error.

In order to be nominated by the government of Ontario for Canada permanent residence, the application will have to be made online by accessing the OINP e-Filing Portal.

New Employer Form required

In view of the existing conditions and for ensuring timely processing of applications submitted, the most recent version of the Employer Form will have to be submitted. Do note that the Employer Form must have been completed and dated no earlier than July 21, 2020.

Despite the Employer Form indicating that it must be submitted within 6 months from the date of signing, the OINP lays down that “it is very important at this time that the information contained in the Employer Form be current”.

Inclusion of an Employer Form completed and dated before July 21, 2020, will lead to the application being returned as incomplete.

After successful registration, 14 days will be allotted for completing and submitting the application.

On securing nomination by the OINP under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream, the next step would be to apply to the federal government of Canada through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for Canada PR.
