According to Xinhuanet, the Ajel online news website is quoted as reporting that Ahmed Al Aamiri, the Saudi Health Council’s secretary general, lauding the decision of the cabinet, which was taken in the third week of February.
He said that the approval for the new visa policy was a component of several health initiatives that their council had suggested in order to better the health sector of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To be issued to those who have demonstrated that their expertise in various fields, the new visa, it is felt, will entice top foreign talent to partake in the research programs in the Arab country.
The report said the experts, especially in the health sector, could lend support to the major initiatives that the Gulf country has been taking to introduce many reforms.
It added that they would particularly help Saudis in treating critical medical issues, which would include averting the spread of transmissible diseases such as the MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) virus that was the cause of several deaths since 2012.
