Piyush Pandey has become the first Indian Global CCO – Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy. He will take over this role with effect from 1 January 2019.
Ogilvy Worldwide Chief Executive John Seifert said that we are highly thrilled to have Piyush as our CCO who will also be my creative partner. He is a real icon in the industry, added the CEO. Piyush is exceptionally suited to head our creative efforts at the global level, he said.
The Ogilvy CEO further elaborated that Piyush is the perfect leader to continue the legacy of the company. This is even as we focus to enhance our brand value as the top global creative network, he added.
It was in 1982 that Pandey gained entry into the ad industry. This was the time when TV ads were becoming popular. Also, Hindi was emerging as the TV’s medium of communication, as quoted by the Exchange 4 Media.
Pandey is credited with transforming the ad industry in India. This is by distancing from the English and Western influences. In the last 3 decades, he has influenced the creative minds. Pandey has also shaped the creative advertising industry in India.
Piyush Pandey is the most globally renowned and illustrious Indian ad personality. All those who have lived in India through the 90s will remember his iconic ads. These include Asian Paints, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Fevicol. Later he also crafted the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan tourism ads.
The first Indian Global CCO Pandey has won several international awards in the last 3 decades. He also became the first Indian to receive the Lifetime Achievement Lion of Saint Mark Award this year. This was alongside with his brother Prasson Pandey.
