Most visitor visas of the European Union will no longer be valid for entering into Panama. This comes after a new diktat which makes stricter migration rules in this Central American country.
Panamanian Media said on 14 January that the country tweaked its visa policy following in the footsteps of its neighbouring country Costa Rica.
But both these countries will continue accepting visitor visas granted by the US and the UK.
AFP Relaxnews is of the view that these measures will, however, not impact most European citizens, who can enter both these Central American countries without visas for short stays.
As per the new decree, tourists entering Panama must have a Panamanian visa or multiple-entry visa with a validity of over a year or residency of Canada, the US, Australia or Britain.
The stricter visa restrictions applied by both the countries comes at the same time when America has also decided to restrict migrants entering its shores via Central America and Mexico.
