Effective from 20 September 2017, Ethiopian Airlines Group in alliance with the main Department of Ethiopian Immigration and Nationality Affairs has launched an e-visa service for international as well as African participants of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) which would be held in Ethiopia.
Using the e-visa, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions participants will be able to obtain their visa online, pay, book and check-in their flights with Ethiopian Airlines online.
Speaking about the new service launch, Mr Tewolde GebreMariam, Group CEO Ethiopian Airlines, was quoted by a press release of Ethiopian Airlines as saying that Ethiopia has a huge potential for conference tourism, but it still has a long way to go to access the sector properly. The launching of an e-visa service for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions is an incentive for the exponentially growing demand of conference tourism of Ethiopia as it saves time and cost in addition to being a modern process of online visa applications, which is simpler and efficient, he adds.
To further streamline passengers travel experience, special fares and discounts will be offered by Ethiopian Airlines, in addition to providing custom designed tour trips to the various top tourist sites in the country, he added.

Mr Gebreyohannes Teklu, Director of Main Department for Immigration & Nationality Affairs, said the launch of e-visa for the participants of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions will provide them with a quicker and an easier way to apply for a visa and plan their visit to Ethiopia while making sure that their sensitive information is totally secure.
He added that this was an important breakthrough for Ethiopia as the capital of Africa to serve several Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions of Africa.
