Are you planning a trip to Jordan? Jordan had not only captivated ancient travellers but also continues to enthral the new generation with its beautiful mix of tradition and modernity.

Here are some tips that will help you better plan your trip to Jordan. Indian travellers can avail the visa-on-arrival facility in Jordan. You can also apply for a visa online with the required set of documents and proof of a return ticket. Indians entering Jordan through the port of entries of Aqaba and the Red Sea are granted a one-month visa with no charge.

Visa

Indians can either obtain a visa from the nearest Jordanian diplomatic mission or get a visa-on-arrival. The visa fee is 40 JOD, according to the Jordan Tourism Board International.

You can apply for a visa directly or through a travel agent. You will need the following documents to obtain a visa:

  • Completed Tourist Visa application form
  • Photographs as per specifications
  • Passport with a validity of at least six months
  • Confirmed flight tickets (two-way)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or other arrangements)
  • Travel itinerary
  • Bank statements for at least six months

The processing time for the Tourist Visa of Jordan is between three to five business days. The tourist visa is generally valid for fourteen days.

Do’s

  • Keep a checklist of the required documents handy before submitting the visa application.
  • Carry an extra set of photocopies for the required documents while visiting the Jordanian Embassy
  • First-time visitors to Jordan have to visit the Jordanian Embassy in person. They cannot be represented by an approved travel agent.
  • Regularly check the official website for any changes in visa rules or fees
  • Keep the dress code in mind while in Jordan. It is wise to carry a scarf with you. Not only will a scarf protect you from the hot sun, but females will also need it while visiting religious sites.

Don’ts

  • Avoid purchasing Forex at the Departure Terminal of the International Airport
  • Do not take small denominations and coins while heading back from any destination country
  • Avoid exchanging currency at the airport as you may get a poor conversion rate. You may do so at any exchange counters in the city.
