Diverse options for residence and Canadian work will be sought by overseas students in Canada who are in their final session of their academics. They would be inclined to explore ways to continue to legally reside in Canada and below are 3 options that you can consider:
Work Permit specific to employer
In this option, you are required to first find an employer in Canada. You must then apply for a Work Permit specific to the employer.
This can be the right option for you if you are not eligible for PR through other pathways. You can also consider this if you are ineligible to apply for Work Permit Post-Graduation based on your course of study.
Work Permit Open
This option is different from the Work Permit specific to the employer. It permits you to work for any qualified employer in any part of Canada. You can be employed for Canadian work as long as the permit is valid. Changing jobs is easy and it does not tie your legal status in Canada to your position or employer.
Through this option, overseas students can apply for Work Permit Post-Graduation. The validity of this permit is based on the length of the course of study. If you have studied for less than 8 months in Canada you cannot apply for this permit.
Direct Canada PR
Some of the overseas students are eligible to apply for direct Canada PR. They are not required to have any work experience. They can apply through any one of the below programs:
Experience Class Quebec
Provincial Nomination Programs’ various International Graduate Stream
Immigration Pilot Program Atlantic
