Overseas students who graduate from a German university can extend the validity of their residence permit for 18 months and work unrestricted. They must, however, possess proof of their degree, adequate funds, and health insurance.

EU Blue Cards

Immigrants who intend to apply for an EU Blue Card in Germany will require:

• A degree from a German university or from an overseas university on par with German universities
• A job offer guaranteed in Germany with salary of 50, 800 Euros or 39, 624 Euros if in shortage occupations

EU Blue cards offer immigrants residence in Germany for 4 years. They are also eligible for permanent residency after 33 months.
