Companies offering green cards have edge over others in attracting immigrants in US

About 70 percent of the temporary work visa holders decide to work for companies only if they offer green card sponsorship. This finding emerged in the study, entitled ‘Global Talent Perspectives 2016,’ which saw VISANOW commission Harris Poll to carry out a study.

The survey, which collected information from more than 700 green card holders and visas across America, also reveals 60 percent of the visa holders as saying that their current firm offered a perk package related to immigration, which was part of its offer of employment. The companies they worked for also offer transportation, such as a car service, or a company/rental car, which was ranked the most popular of the perks. The second most popular incentive was the provision of temporary and or corporate accommodation; followed by travel, including paid airfare for visiting their home country for them and their immediate family members; and paying the payment for green card applications or dependent visas of their family members.

VISANOW president and CEO, Dick Burke, was quoted by the Associated Press as saying that green-card holders are very valuable to their employers since they are highly skilled and possess expertise, especially in disciplines of STEM where there is a scarcity of talent. He said that their survey revealed the needs and desires of the foreign workers, which would help employers in creating a more knowledgeable and competitive talent management methods that would draw and retain the crème de la crème from across the globe.

Around 63 percent of expatriates, irrespective of whether they are the green card or temporary visa holders, feel comfortable in their company’s atmosphere. The percentage increases to 70 in STEM disciplines.
