In a period of some months the citizens of Ukraine will have the privilege of visa waiver for their travel in the European Union, said Hugues Mingarelli, the European Union ambassador in Ukraine.
Speaking at the media briefing in Kharkiv, Mingarelli said that the visa waiver will be functional very soon. He, however, declined to give details of the specific date on which it would get operational and added that this would be dependent on the legal processes in the European Union, as quoted by the Interfax.
The representative of the European Union in Ukraine elaborated on this visa waiver by saying that the concerned authorities of the European Union have already given their approval for the visa waiver to Ukrainians. There was a consensus amongst all the 28 nation members of the European Union to approve his visa-free status to Ukraine, said Mingarelli.
The officials in the European Union have also hinted that the introduction of the visa waiver might witness parallel suspension of the visa waiver for the non-member nations of the European Union.
As per the information shared on the European parliament website, the discussion on these issues will occur in December and will be placed for voting for approving the suspension of visa waiver.
The Yevropeiska Pravda or European Truth news service on the internet was quoted as saying that the dates for discussion of the visa waiver n the European parliament have been revised. It had shared the new dates for the discussion o granting the visa waiver privilege to the citizens of Ukraine.
Yevropeiska Pravda gave information on the new date as being February 1, 2017. It was earlier expected that the discussion would take place on January 18, 2016.
