The Department of Tourism in Dubai has announced that it will offer a visa on arrival to citizens of China shortly. An official from the Department in Shanghai informed that an initiative for Chinese training has also been started with an intention to draw a larger number of tourists from China to the city in the Emirates.
The road map for friendlier immigration policy for tourists from China is being worked upon and the specifics will be declared before the year end, said the Dubai Events and Convention Bureau Senior Vice President Hamad M Bin Mejren. He was quoted by the Shanghai Daily as saying that the Tourism Department anticipated many tourists from China once the immigration policies were made friendlier.
Along with the improvement of immigration policies, the Department has also launched an initiative for training in the Chinese language for the native tour escorts to cater to the tourists from the world’s second largest economy in an improved manner. Mejren also informed that the training classes would soon be extended to the entire tourism sector in the city of Dubai.
The Department of Tourism in Dubai also signed an agreement for strategic collaboration with the UnionPay of China that will facilitate tourists from China to procure tickets to attractive tourist places and events in Dubai by the online mode.
During the last year, China was, for the first time one, among the highest resource countries of overseas tourists to Dubai as almost 450,000 visitors came from the Communist nation. This was an increase of twenty-nine percent compared to the year before. In the first eight months of this year, Dubai witnessed an increase of thirteen percent of Chinese visitors when compared to the previous year.
Dubai continues to launch more attractions for the tourists, the most recent one being the largest indoor theme park in the world, the IMG Worlds of Adventure, said Mejren.
