China has clarified benefits and talent visa rules for the R-Visa that is effective from January 1, 2018. The revised rules permit the high-level talents to stay multiple times in China for 6 months at a time and have a validity of 10 years. The processing times have been decreased and the online application process has been streamlined.
Applicants must be eligible under the standards for classification as category A to obtain an R-Visa. This can be in any one of the below ways:
Comparatively the R-Visa offers longer duration stays for 6 months whereas the M-Visa offers 3 months. Its validity ranges between 5 and 10 years with multiple arrivals. It also does not have visa fees associated with the visa, as quoted by the Travel China Guide. The children and spouse of the qualifying applicant are also entitled to similar visa privileges.
The Foreign Experts Affairs State Administration has to first offer a letter of confirmation for high-level overseas talents. The applicants can then obtain the R-Visa at an overseas Consulate of China. It is expected that both the visa offering and pre-approval process will be quicker than the M or Z Visa.
Immigrants who possess the R-Visa and intend to work in Canada can get the Work Permit via a quick and simple process. The documents can be submitted online. A residence permit related to the work is also required.
The R-Visa has nationwide applicability in China. It is being, however, run on a pilot basis for 9 cities or provinces in China. This includes Shanghai and Beijing.
