The selection of immigrants under Canada’s express entry scheme continues to grow and is giving more opportunities to the aspiring immigrants to secure a permanent residence. The latest express entry draw held on January 25 offered 3, 508 applicants the invitation to apply. Candidates in this pool with 453 points or more in the comprehensive ranking system were extended the invitation to apply.
This draw has once again proved to be the all time largest draw. It is a continuing trend as the last four draws have been greater than the preceding ones. As of now, 2017 has proven to be a breakthrough year for Canada’s express entry scheme. Highest numbers of applicants have been extended the invitation to apply in this month compared to any month from the time the scheme was first launched two years ago.
The decrease in the comprehensive ranking system points in mere a month from 497 points in December to 453 points in January is very crucial. This is an indication that candidates who have been proactive, patient and persistent all the way in the past few months have been rewarded with the invitation to apply, as quoted by the CIC News.
Apart from this, the fall in CRS points has also given fresh hope to immigrants who intend to stay permanently in Canada. The last instance when the CRS points were this lower was in October 2015. It appears that possibly the points requirement will further lower in the upcoming months.
Last November when the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada had forecasted that liberal changes to express entry scheme would permit more candidates to secure an invitation to apply based on the skills, human capital, and experience, it was unclear how this would impact the future express entry draws.
Now, it is more apparent that the modifications that included the reduced qualifying points for a qualifying job offer have given increased number of applicants a higher chance of receiving an invitation to apply.
So far this year 9, 744 applicants who have been given the invitation to apply and many others who had qualified the invitation to apply earlier are now eligible to furnish their application for permanent residence to Canada to the IRCC. The time period for processing their applications will be around six months.
The applicants will also be permitted to be accompanied by their family members that include common-law partners, spouses, and dependent children.
Attorney Davis Cohen shared his views on this by saying that he had predicted earlier that 2017 would be very crucial for the express entry scheme. However, it could be actually even bigger than anticipated. The Canadian government is inviting larger section of the population across the globe to immigrate to Canada that includes those having prior experience of work or study in Canada and even those who do not have them.
The attorney elaborated that the latest trends indicate that stakeholders must be well prepared. There are a wide range of issues with respect to immigration programs of Canada. There are program modifications, concerns on eligibility, provincial nominee programs that have to be monitored, reviewing and collating of documents, accurate and truly furnishing application forms and much more, added Cohen.
The latest trends in Canada’s are exciting for the prospective applicants yet it is crucial to be thorough, proactive and strategic all throughout the process of immigration until one arrives in Canada and even later, said David Cohen.
