Canada’s 150th anniversary will feature two Non-Resident Indian immigrants

Non-Resident Indian immigrants The celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of Canada will feature success stories of two Non-Resident Indian immigrants. These two are included in the 150 stories that will mark the 150th-anniversary celebrations of Canada. Sultan Jessa the Journalist with origins from Gujarat and Gurbux Singh Malhi with origins from Punjab who is the Member of Canadian Parliament from the Liberal Party are the two Non-Resident Indian immigrants. Sultan was earlier selected as one among the Top 25 immigrants in Canada in 2010 in acknowledgment of his contributions and achievements that have positively influenced Canada, as quoted by the Times of India. Recently Sultan was also awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal of Queen Elizabeth in a ceremony in Ottawa by David Johnson the Governor General of Canada. This was the third Jubilee medal for Sultan having previously received the Golden Jubilee and Silver Jubilee medals of the Queen. He has also been honored by the Sikh, the Jewish and the Catholic community in Canada and has received the titles ‘Sultan of Selflessness and ‘Sultan of Sacrifice’. The other featured stories will include a journalist and teacher Romeo LeBlanc, the renowned one-legged runner and former Governor General of Canada Terry Fox, who assisted several cancer patients and the first black Canadian Member of Parliament Lincoln Alexander, who was also a Cabinet Minister and former Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario. The feature success stories of overseas immigrants who became Canadian nationals was commenced by Race Relations Foundation in Canada which is a pioneering and leading organization in Canada that aims to eliminate discrimination based on race in all its forms. The anniversary celebrations have included success stories of immigrants to pay tribute to the rich multi-ethnicity, democratic principles and diversity in Canada highlighting the commendable achievements of organizations and nationals of Canada.
