Canada has opened its doors to more than 40,000 potential Immigrants in the first month of 2019. The country plans to welcome one million Immigrants by 2021. The numbers clearly indicate that it wouldn’t be difficult for them to achieve this target.

The Immigrants have mostly received invites through the Economic Immigration and Family Sponsorship programs. Canada has a 3-year Immigration levels plan. They aim at inviting 331,000 Permanent Residents in 2019. The number will go up to 341,000 in 2020. And by the end of 2021, it should rise to 350,000. They target to attain one percent Immigration rate.

The one percent Immigration rate target is essential to maintain the continuous growth of the economy. Also, Canada needs to improve its labour force. Hence, they are giving out most of the invitations through Express Entry and Provincial Nominee programs.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s prime source of skilled Immigrants from countries across the world. Last month the country issued over 11,000 invitations to Immigrants through this program. The invitations are based on Immigrants’ age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Last year Canada issued nearly 90,000 invitations to apply for Permanent Residence. The number was the highest in its five-year history. The country is expected to set a new record this year. In January, about 5000 Immigrants were sent invites through the Provincial Nomination Program. The invites mostly came from provinces like Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Prince Edward Island.

Another big achievement for Canada last month was to reopen the Family Sponsorship Program. The country has started to accept new Expressions of Interest. This program allows Permanent Residents in Canada to sponsor their Parents and Grandparents.

As quoted by CIC News, this program is the central pillar of the Immigration program in Canada. It plays an important role in welcoming new Immigrants every year. The impressive kick-off of the Immigration strategy indicates that the country will soon attain the target of 2019. This, in turn, will benefit Immigrants all over the world.
