Canada offers Visa waiver to UAE nationals from 5 June

Canada has offered Visa waiver to UAE nationals from 5 June 2018. UAE satisfies the criterions for visa exemption, revealed its latest evaluation.

The announcement for Visa waiver to UAE nationals was made during a meeting of the Ministers of both the nations in Ottawa. It was between Ahmed Hussen the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Minister and UAE Minister of International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

UAE Minister of International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs praised the move. He said that the decision affirms the illustrious ties between Canada and UAE, as quoted by the Khaleej Times.

The UAE is significant strategically said Ahmed Hussen. The visa waiver will assist in reaffirming the strong relations between the two nations, he added.  This will also enhance cultural, study and academic exchanges and tourism said the Minister. It will also develop fresh investment, trade, and business opportunities added Hussen.

The decision to offer visa waiver to UAE nationals is based on a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of UAE with respect to the criterions of Visa policy of Canada. The assessment revealed that UAE satisfies the criterions set by Canada for exempting visa.

The visa waiver for UAE nationals will become effective from 5 June 2018 as of 5:30 am. This will be applicable for arriving in Canada for short duration of up to 6 months, to visit friends and family, for business and tourism.

On the other hand, UAE nationals will require an Electronic Travel Authorization to arrive or transit through an airport in Canada along the lines of travelers that are visa exempt. The ETA permits officials in Canada to screen the admissibility of travelers prior to them boarding a flight for Canada.
