CBC National Immigration Centre’s Daniel Fields and Kareem El-Assal have authored this latest report. They have said that going by the existing demographic trends, the annual rate of immigration must be increased by 1% of the total population by 2030. This means accepting 415, 000 immigrants annually, they added. It will assist Canada to support economic and labor market growth in the long term adds the report.

The Federal Government of Canada had revealed a fresh multi-year plan for immigrants’ intake in November 2017. For 2018, the intake of immigrants is set at 310,000 which is a rate of 0.84%.

The latest report by Conference Board of Canada is in line with repeated calls given by the economists, business leaders and national and provincial governments of Canada. All of them have demanded to increase the immigration rate of Canada to cope up with the scarcity of workers due to the aging Canadian population.
