In view of the growing demand for visit visas from India and Brazil, Canadian Government has introduced a new visit visa application program. It's a pilot project aimed to ease the visa process for citizens of the two countries.
People applying from either India or Brazil need not go to the immigration centers to file an application, they can instead file an application online. Also, earlier the applicants had to submit proof of economic solvency, but this step too has been bypassed now, thus significantly reducing the turnaround time.
The scheme applies only to the citizens of India and Brazil who have visited US or Canada at least once in the last 10 years, and have no criminal convictions.
The turnaround time will be reduced to just 5 days to encourage more people to apply for the visa and visit Canada for trade and tourism.
If the project is successful, Canadian government aims to introduce the same to nationals of many other countries too.
