Canada is soon likely to overtake the UK as the top 2nd nations for Overseas Studies. This has been revealed by a new survey of overseas students. It reveals Canada is fast catching the UK and the US as the most popular destinations globally for Overseas Studies.
The QS Applicant Survey for 2018 shows that Canada may soon overtake the UK:
Rank | Nation | % of overseas students |
1 | The US | 42% |
2 | The UK | 34% |
3 | Canada | 33% |
4 | Australia | 26% |
5 | Germany | 24% |
Y-Axis Immigration Expert Usha Rajesh has said that the transformation in the global overseas education market is a reaction to the political shifts in the 2 nations. These are the US and the UK, added Ms. Rajesh.
The US is moving ahead with immigration policies against the immigrants. Meanwhile, the UK is exiting the EU. The core theme for Brexit was freedom of movement.
On the other hand, Canada is enhancing focus on positive immigration. It is promoting overseas students to remain and build careers in the nation. This is also the core policy of the national Liberal Government in Canada, as quoted by the CIC News.
The QS Application Survey has said that Canada is the third top nation for Overseas Studies as of now. It, however, surpasses both the UK and the US in terms of attracting students from specific regions.
The report elaborates that Canada is behind the UK by just 1%. Given the popular initiatives it is launching for overseas students, Canada may soon overtake the UK, it adds. It outperforms both the US and the UK when target source nations are individually considered. This is truer in the case of the Middle East region.
