Canada commits $440 million for immigration increase

Canada has committed $440 million for immigration increase to ensure the success of multi-year migration levels plan said Immigration Minister of Canada Ahmed Hussen. He offered this update on Canada Immigration Levels: 2018 before the Citizenship and Immigration Standing Committee of the Parliament.

The 3 years plan for 2018-2020 calls for steady immigration increase over this period. The overall immigration intake for 2018 is 310,000 that will get enhanced to 340,000 by 2020, as quoted by the CIC News.

The latest multi-year plan represents the highest immigrant intake for more than a century said Hussen. It is also the highest % of migration for the last 4 decades, he added.

60% of the overall immigration increase will be routed through economic immigration programs of Canada. This highlights the crucial roles of Express entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada. The numbers of skilled migrants chosen through Express entry system will increase in the coming 3 years. This implies that there will be enhanced high skills talents for the labor market in Canada, said the Immigration Minister.

A target of 242, 100 fresh immigrants intake has been set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for 2018-2020. This will be done through the 3 economic immigration programs of Canada administered through Express entry system. These are Experience Class Canada, National Skilled Trades Class, and National Skilled Worker Class.

PNPs allow territories and provinces in Canada to select a fixed number of migrants every year for Canada PR. These programs will be the chief propellants for the multi-year immigration plans said Hussen.

The economies of provinces are faring extremely well. They had asked the federal government to assist in catering to the increased demands for skilled workers said Hussen.  They have been regularly asking for increase annually and the year-on-year increase will be reflected in the 3 years-plan added Ahmed Hussen.
