How can overseas students benefit from 2 new Canada PR routes of Alberta?

The Alberta province has announced 2 new Canada PR routes that have come in to effect from 14 June 2018. This is going to benefit existing and potential applicants to Canada including overseas student graduates.

Express Entry Stream Alberta:

The Express Entry Stream Alberta is the first among the 2 new Canada PR routes of Alberta for overseas students who possess a profile in the Express Entry system. Immigrant Nominee Program Alberta announced that applicants must demonstrate strong ties with Alberta, as quoted by the CIC News.

Applicants also need to support the economic development priorities of the government for receiving an invitation. Overseas Students are also eligible to apply under this stream.

For being considered under Express Entry Stream Alberta, overseas students must first create a profile in the Express Entry. They must also fulfill the program requirements for entering the Express Entry pool.

Opportunity Stream Alberta:

This is 2nd among the 2 new Canada PR routes of Alberta. Overseas Students must demonstrate having minimum 6 months of work experience in the province. It must be in an occupation related to their field of study. This is lesser than the requirements for other applicants.

Many overseas students who are inclined to apply to this stream could be already working in the Alberta province. This would be on the Post-Graduation Work Visa. It has a validity of 3 years upon graduation from a participating institution at the post-secondary level.

Overseas students who have graduated from an authorized post-secondary institution in Alberta are also eligible for this stream according to AINP. These must also be employed through a Post-Graduation Work Visa to be able to apply for Opportunity Stream Alberta, adds AINP.
