Azerbaijan’s ASAN visa system has been improved, as the country will make it possible to obtain an e-visa to enter that country in three hours only.
This scheme will be available at airports and also at the customs checkpoints, announced Abulfas Garayev, Culture and Tourism Minister, during a meeting with Zahra Ahmadipour, Vice-President of Iran on 4 July.
Garayev further added that the ties between Azerbaijan and Iran are improving as the presidents of both countries have put in a lot of effort.
As per the presidential decree, ASAN service, the former Soviet Republic’s major e-Government institution, will have to consider applications of foreigners and stateless persons to secure a visa in visit it within three hours.
Azer News said that ASAN Visa has made it convenient for Iranian tourists to travel to their country. They no longer need to contact the Consulate in Tehran to obtain a visa, as visas can be obtained online.
Azerbaijan’s ASAN Visa system is now available to citizens of 93 countries. Thanks to it, about 960,000 tourists visited Azerbaijan in the first five months of 2017 when compared to 768,000 people during the same period in 2016.
