The Express entry draw held on August 9 has offered ITA for Canada PR to 2, 991 overseas immigrant applicants and this was the second draw for August 2017. IRCC offered ITAs to candidates with 433 or more CRS scores. Family members that include common-law-partners, spouses, and dependent children will also be allowed to be accompanied with the principal applicant.
This was also the lowest CRS score after the changes to Comprehensive Ranking System were implemented in June 2017. Immigrant applicants with a sibling in Canada and French language proficiency are now awarded extra points in the Express entry draws, as quoted by the CIC News.
The three earlier draws held after the changes to express entry draws had CRS scores in the range of 440s. The fact that the August 9 draw was held within a week of the previous draw would have contributed to the decrease in CRS scores. Longer gaps between the draws permit more immigrant applicants to enter the pool and subsequent increase in CRS threshold scores.
Including the August 9 draw, the number of ITAs offered so far in Canada express entry draws has reached 125, 587. Out of these, the ITAs issued so far in 2017 is 60, 742. This is more than the total number of ITAs issued in 2016.
Attorney David Cohen said that following the changes implemented to CRS in June, it appeared that there was a slowdown of activities at IRCC. The number of draws that were held decreased for a small period of time.
Nevertheless, IRCC was occupied with updating the details of the immigrant applicants. Now we see that draws are being held more regularly and the CRS scores are beginning to decrease, added Cohen.
