The data of Destination Canada for the year that ended in 2016 reveals that there has been a drastic increase in the number of visitors arriving in Canada by 13.2%. Between January to December 2016, around 215, 664 visitors from India arrived in Canada which was a higher growth of 13.2% when compared to the visitors in 2015.
Destination Canada’s India Representative SanJeet said that the huge increase in arrival of Indians to Canada was evidence that the visitors from India are discovering Canada for its variety. Canada was promoted extensively in 2016 amongst consumers as well as travel trade. This year when Canada completes 150 years of its formation, it is a special occasion and we expect to keep up the increase in the number of visitors, added SanJeet.
In 2016, Destination Canada’s India office had held a series of market reach initiatives that included social media campaigns, digital campaigns, familiarization tours, networking sessions, consumer activations, training sessions across India, and a host of other activities.
As per the reports of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, around 20 million visitors were welcomed by Canada in 2016, a fourteen-year high.
In 2015, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada set a five-year industry goal to bring 20 million visitors to the country by 2020.
