The application deadlines for Universities in Germany are usually 5 months prior to the commencement of the semester. Your application will be considered by the University if it is completely filled. It must also be submitted within the specified deadline for the application.
A 2-semester system is followed by the Universities in Germany. Most students join the University during the winter semester. This semester runs from 1 October to 31 March. The lectures commence on 15 October and last for four months.
The application forms and all the supporting documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office within the specified deadlines.

It must be noted that exact dates for specific programs can vary. You can check with the course website for that.
It is better to apply 3 to 4 months prior to the deadline for your specific course. This is to prevent last-minute surprises and to be on the safe side. It is especially if you are an overseas student.
The number of students accepted in any given program at a German University can be either:
• Unrestricted – no restriction on intake of students
• Restricted – fixed number of intake of students
Any applicant who fulfils the minimum requirements for admission and applies prior to the deadline for the application can obtain admission to the unrestricted programs. The unrestricted programs are less competitive comparatively than the restricted programs. Nevertheless, the requirements for entry are not at all lower.
