More applications for Canada PGP Visa will be invited by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada giving an opportunity to immigrants to sponsor their grandparents and parents. The forthcoming round of invitations will commence on 6 September 2017 and go on for a couple of days. It is the second round of applications being held for the Canada PGP Visa in 2017.
Prospective sponsors who did not receive the invitation in the first round in April have a chance now to receive the invitation. The forthcoming round of Canada PGP visa will be confined to probable sponsors who submitted an EOI in early 2017 via Interest to Sponsor form and have not received the invitation.
The sponsors who receive an invitation to apply will have to submit their applications by 8 December 2017 for it to be acknowledged.
The Interest to Sponsor is a new initiative launched in winter 2016. It changed the Canada PGP visa to an invitation-based model from the earlier first come served model. Through this prospective applicants are required to first submit a formal interest in applying, as quoted by the CIC News.
10,000 prospective applicants for the Canada PGP visa were chosen randomly in April from the pool of registrants. But after the 3-month deadline was over, 10,000 complete applications were not received by the IRCC. Hence the IRCC is conducting one more round of invitations to achieve the yearly target.
Individuals who did not submit an application by August 4 in spite of receiving the invitation will not be invited in this second round. Individuals who did not submit the form in early 2017 will also not be invited.
Individuals interested to sponsor must be holding Canadian citizenship of Canada PR. They must also satisfy some criteria for threshold income. 20,000 new Canada Permanent Residents under PGP visa are being targeted for 2017 by the Government of Canada.
