Canada Immigration At the time of its launch under the previous Conservative government, Canada’s Express Entry system was more focused on the role of employers with respect to organizing and presenting the system. However, under the Liberal government, a more diverse economic immigration system has evolved that lays more emphasis on the human capital potential of the applicants for economic success in the long term. Effective from June 6, 2017, registration for Job banks has been made voluntary for the Express Entry applicants by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, as quoted by the CIC News. Until now, candidates who did not register themselves with the job banks within 30 days had to face expiry of their Express entry profiles. Applicants who neither had a provincial nomination nor a job offer nor were yet to register in the Job Bank were not qualified for a selection in the subsequent draw in the pool held by IRCC. This is, however, a thing of past now and the scenario has transformed entirely. Speaking at the Canadian immigration summit, a Senior Policy Analyst from IRCC said that it was found that there weren’t a large number of matches that were occurring in the Job banks. Thus it was decided that registration to the Job banks be made optional instead of a mandatory requirement, added the Analyst. Apart from this, changes were also made effective that exempted specific overseas workers in Canada who were employed through employer-sponsored work permits from the assessment for impact on the labor market for securing points. Along with this, the requirement for the duration of the job offer was reduced from the existing indefinite period to a minimum of 12 months. These wide ranges of improvements to the Express entry scheme largely expanded the range of applicants who would incur advantage of extra points for a job offer while also diminishing the assurance that job offer would always result in receiving the ITA. Overall it has given wider scope to more number of applicants of receiving the ITA. This is the right time for overseas immigrants to create an express entry profile and take a positive step towards receiving an ITA and realizing their dream of Canada PR!
