Dreamers

A large proportion of Americans want their government to allow the ‘Dreamers’ to stay in the United States lawfully, according to various polls. A recent CBS News Poll puts the number of Americans supporting ‘Dreamers’ at 87 percent.

A poll of NBC/Survey Monkey revealed that 71 percent believe that undocumented immigrants living in the US should be given an opportunity to legalise, a view that is said to have been held by Americans for years. Even many Republicans hold the same view, it was reported.

San Francisco Chronicle says that a vast majority of US citizens are also against deportations.

A CNN/ORC poll stated that 71 percent of Americans are of the view that the administration must not attempt to deport all undocumented immigrants.

A CBS News poll showed that 60 percent of Americans oppose the act of deporting.

Meanwhile, Gallup poll shows that 62 percent of Americans want the immigration rate to be increased or be maintained at the rate existing currently.
