If the United States wants to continue being a leader in innovation and research, it has to hire Indian talent, said senator Thom Tillis while addressing Indian Americans in the second week of March in Capitol Hill.
He was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying that to retain Indians who arrive in the US to pursue higher studies, especially in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, green cards should be given besides their degrees.
He was of the view that Indians would work and contribute to the economy of the US because they create jobs for Americans when they work hard.
On the other hand, Tillis said that he would not have held the same opinion if there was enough talent within America.
Their economic growth would be powered if they had resources to occupy high skilled jobs, advanced analytics, science and research and advanced degrees, he added.
He said that the US has to improve its work visa programs, whether it is H1B or H2.
