Invitations issued by Alberta under the PNP are also referred to as Notification of Interest (NOI) letters. As the Alberta Express Entry Stream is aligned with IRCC Express Entry, the ranking of the candidate – as per the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) – is taken into consideration. For the latest AINP draw, the minimum score required was that of CRS 343. Alberta is known to generally invite candidates in the CRS 300 to CRS 400 range. An Express Entry candidate nominated through Canadian PNP is automatically allotted 600 CRS points towards their ranking in the IRCC pool of candidates. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELATED --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alberta PNP’s COVID-19 response
·         Expressions of Interest (EOIs) continue to be accepted ·         Applications continue to be accepted and processed ·         Temporary adjustments to certain application and assessment processes
The limit on the total number of nomination certificates that can be issued in a year by any province or territory under Canadian PNP is set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). For 2021, Alberta has received an allocation of 6,250 nomination certificates. 5,871 nomination certificates have been issued so far this year. Currently, there are around 800 EOI applications in the Alberta Express Entry pool. As part of the Alberta Express Entry selections, Alberta reviews the pool of candidates in the federal Express Entry pool. Based on the information provided by the candidate, the AINP selects candidates with the most potential of thriving within the province. AINP-selected candidates are then invited by the AINP to submit a completed application.

Note. LMIA: Labour Market Impact Assessment, a document that might have to be secured by an employer in Canada stating that they need a foreign worker as no Canadian is available to do the job. A positive LMIA shows that a foreign worker is required. Generally, to apply for a Canada work permit, a foreign worker needs – a copy of the LMIA, the LMIA number, a contract, and a job offer letter.
