Alberta province has declared that it has a maximum allocation of 5, 600 Canada PR nominations for 2018. This is an increase of 100 nominations that the province had in 2017 with 5, 500 Canada PR nominations.
It was anticipated that Alberta would receive higher allotment in 2018. This was due to the multi-year immigration plan of the federal government announced on 1 November 2017. It has a provision of 55, 000 Provincial Nominee Program nominations in 2018. This is an increase of 8% when compared with the target of 51, 000 in 2017, as quoted by the CIC News.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program is at present divided into 3 immigration streams. These are Strategic Recruitment, Employer-Driven, and Farmer Self-Employed Stream. The Strategic Recruitment and Employer-Driven stream along with their sub-categories will be merged into Alberta Opportunity Stream in 2018.
It is also anticipated that a second stream aligned with the Express entry pool will be launched by Alberta in 2018. The Alberta Express Entry Stream will permit the province to nominate a specified number of candidates in the Express entry pool. This is inclusive of the candidates from the 3 economic immigration classes of the federal government. They are Skilled Worker Federal Class, Skilled Trades Federal Class, and Experience Class Canada.
The AINP has revealed that 10 NOC codes account for more than 50% of the applications for PNP certificates. These 10 codes of National Occupational Classification are:
6311 –Supervisors Food Service
