No impact of the pandemic on Canada immigration, as per the survey.
According to the Canada immigration survey, 93 percent of respondents said that pandemic has no impact on gaining Canadian permanent resident status.
The survey was conducted for 13,000 prospective immigrants, which shows that interest in moving to Canada remains strong. This survey was held by World Education Services (WES) Canada, a provider of Educational Credential Assessments (ECA) for Canadian immigration.

As per the WES survey, 2020 individuals who submitted their ECA application gave a better understanding of how the coronavirus pandemic impacts Canadian immigration plans. While in 2021, WES repeated the survey and compared the responses to see if the evolving pandemic context has impacted the motivations of respondents to immigrate to Canada.

There is no decrease in the results or respondents interested in immigrating to Canada. Pandemic has no impact on Canada's immigration plans. As per the reports, 52 percent of immigrants stated that pandemic has no impact on immigration, whereas 93 percent said that the pandemic would either have “no impact” or make them “more interested”.
Around 58 percent of respondents stated that they are more interested because of the Canadian government policies and health care systems for immigrants. Only a few that is 21 percent have stated that pandemic would delay their Canadian immigration plans in 2021, which was 35 percent in 2020.
Overall, respondents suggested that there will be a strong desire to pursue Canadian permanent resident status even during challenging times. 74 percent say that economic recession in Canada will either have no impact or would increase their interest in getting permanent residence.
Few of them were optimistic about the job outlook in Canada amid the pandemic versus prospects in their home countries.

Around 77 percent showed that there is no impact or positive impact in their specific occupation sector compared to Canada and their home countries.

Impact of travel restrictions on Canada immigration
In 2020 before the pandemic, Canada was looking to land 341,000 immigrants under economic class. But the pandemic hit has shut the borders, and the travel restrictions reduced new immigrant landings to just 184,000.
Achievement of immigration goals in 2021
However, Canada's economy was improved in 2021, after lifting the pandemic restrictions, and showed its highest job vacancy rate as 1 million. It also welcomed more than 401,000 new immigrants and marked its achievement. It finally accomplished its goal largely by transitioning 401,000 new immigrants in Canada to permanent residence.

Announcement of new immigration plan 2022-2024
The country will announce its new immigration plan 2022-2024 by February 14, 2022. This indicates the number of new immigrants in Canada and the categories under which they fall.
As per the current plan, IRCC invites 411,000 new immigrants in 2022. Among these, 60 percent are set to arrive under the economic class.
