Quality of Life in European Cities report reveals EU residents are satisfied with their life

According to a recent EU 2023 report on Quality of Life in European Cities reveals that approximately 90% of EU citizens are satisfied with their city life. The report emphasises that nine out of ten individuals are satisfied.

It includes the data from 83 cities from the European Union, the Western Balkans, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and European Free Trade Association members. It includes the information from 71,153 interviews conducted with 839 citizens in every city between January and April 2023 and provides comprehensive insights into citizen satisfaction levels.

Factors influencing satisfaction levels of residents

The study identifies a number of factors such as the safety, public space availability, healthcare, housing affordability, and local public administrations as key factors influencing residents' perceptions.

Majority of the respondents examined in all cities, had similar responses when asked about changes in the quality of life during the previous five years. 31% of locals said their quality of life has improved, 40% said there has been no change.

Groningen, Braga, and Gdansk secure spots in both the top 10 cities for overall satisfaction and the finest cities for immigrants.

Cardiff, Lisbon, Barcelona, Tyneside, Hamburg, Helsinki, and Glasgow also make to the list of preferred locations for immigrants.

Palermo, Athens, Istanbul, Tirana, Naples, Belgrade, Rome, Skopje, Miskolc, and Podgorica received low scores, indicating areas for improvement.
