60,000 Canada Spousal sponsorships have been approved since 2016 December informed the Immigration Minister of Canada Ahmed Hussen. He announced that the IRCC has cleared 80% of the backlog for Canada Spousal sponsorships.
Ahmed Hussen the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced this as a part of the special update for Valentine’s Day. He said that through this achievement the Government of Canada has delivered the promise given in 2016 December. It was assured by the government to reduce the backlog of Canada Spousal sponsorships by 80% within one year, as quoted by the CIC News.
Hussen said that in 2016 December the numbers of backlog in Spousal sponsorships was 75, 000 people. The backlog as of February 15, 2018, is just 15,000 he added. Immigrating to an overseas destination can be a really challenging process. This is even true for partners and spouses who are separated by a vast distance, added the Immigration Minister.
Canadians who have an overseas spouse or partner will not have to wait for years to unite with them in Canada, said Ahmed Hussen. The ones who are already in Canada will also not be ambiguous regarding their residency in the nation, he added.
The government is diligently working to process the files of those applicants whose applications are under process, said the Immigration Minister of Canada. The revision to common-law-partner and spouse sponsorship checklist and guide was also announced by the Minister.
Now the applicants will be asked to submit police certificates and IMM 5569- Declaration/Background in the initial package of the paper application. This will assist in the faster processing of applications and avoid undue delays, said Ahmed Hussen.
