60% plus overseas students in Canada intend to get PR Visa and remain in the Maple Leaf Nation upon completion of their studies. Year after year, increasing numbers of international students are attracted to Canada for pursuing their university education.
What’s more, increasing numbers of these are hopeful to stay in the host nation upon graduating. This has been revealed by the recent survey for overseas student immigration to Canada. The study was held by CBIE - Canadian Bureau of International Education.
The figure of overseas students desiring to obtain PR Visa upon completion of graduation was 51% in 2015. The CBIE survey involved the participation of 14,000 overseas students across the world. These are enrolled in 46 diverse higher education institutes across Canada, as quoted by the Study International.
Leah Nord Stakeholder Relations and Director of Board Member CBIE said that the numbers reveal that PR visa remains the crucial consideration for overseas students. Nord also elaborated that while overseas students might desire to remain in the nation, Canada needs to put forth much more efforts.
The CBIE Member of Director Board further elaborated that overseas students in Canada must be offered the guidance and pathway. This will assist them in realizing their goal of obtaining PR Visa.
Mount Saint Vincent University International Education Centre Manager Amy Braye also expressed views on the current trends amongst overseas students in Canada. She said that there is generally positive perception regarding overseas students’ intention to remain in Canada.
Amy Braye said that there are job prospects for overseas students in Canada to remain and obtain PR visa. But much needs to be done to help them to access these opportunities and make headway into their relevant industries added Braye.
