According to Eurostat, there are 58,000 jobs are vacant in Portugal this year. The country is facing a labour shortage and an aging population for which it has introduced a program in order to facilitate immigration for employment called the “working in Portugal” program last year. This program allows the candidates with employment opportunities and helps them obtain legal documentation required for their entry and stay in the nation.

Portugal's Centre region has the highest job openings, with machine operators, healthcare, transportation, pharmaceuticals, civil construction, and agriculture being the most sought-after professions.
Proficient individuals with programming, language, and technical skills are in demand, particularly in contact centre, IT, and electronics industries.
According to EURES, those who work in the humanities, social sciences, teaching, management, marketing, business studies, sales, advertising, tourism industry, and other engineering fields may also be able to relocate to Europe.
Foreign nations who want to work in Portugal should have a valid work visa, and the employer is required to complete the application process at the Portuguese Labour Authorities.
According to Numbeo’s cost of living index, Portugal is ranked 28th in Europe and 66th in the world.
The monthly costs for an individual excluding rent is €617. The cost for one bedroom apartment in the city centre is €773.78, and outside the city centre is about €598.84 monthly. Additionally, a family of four is estimated to spend €2,168.6 per month, excluding rent.
