The country is facing a labour shortage and an aging population for which it has introduced a program in order to facilitate immigration for employment called the “working in Portugal” program last year. Portugal's Centre region has the highest job openings, with machine operators, healthcare, transportation, pharmaceuticals, civil construction, and agriculture being the most sought-after professions.
