5-year UAE Tourist Visa will bring in more repeat visitors

The UAE has recently introduced a new Tourist Visa that is multiple-entry and has a validity of 5 years. The new Tourist Visa is available to all countries of the world.

The new Tourist Visa is expected to boost the tourism and aviation sectors of the UAE. The new Visa will bring in more repeat visitors to the country. Analysts believe the new Visa would be especially beneficial to those who travel to the UAE to visit friends and family.

Earlier the UAE issued single-entry Visas with a validity of 30 days and multiple-entry Visas with a validity of 90 days. Analysts have said that most international visitors to the UAE visit Dubai, but most of them tend to visit just once. Getting repeat visitors is a challenge for the UAE.

Nikola Kosutic, Research Manager, said that Dubai has the fifth-largest number of international arrivals in the world. It is comparable to cities like Singapore, London and Bangkok, but these cities have a significantly higher proportion of repeat arrivals.

Mr Kosutic further said that a huge number of international visitors come to Dubai or the UAE as a one-time visit. They have Burj Khalifa listed on their bucket list. However, most of them do not return to the UAE as they do in other popular international destinations.

With the new 5-year Tourist Visa, international visitors from the Middle East, Africa and some Asian countries can visit the UAE multiple times without applying for a visa each time. At present, only the US, the EU, Canada and some Asian countries do not need a visa for the UAE as they are eligible for a visa on arrival.

The Govt. of UAE has been heavily focusing on the tourism industry in a bid to diversify the economy. The country has been developing theme parks to try and attract tourists seeking an adrenaline rush. Despite that, Dubai Parks and Resorts and other theme parks have not been meeting their international visitor targets.

Monica Malik, Chief Economist of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, said that the new 5-year Tourist Visa would help boost the competitiveness of the UAE economy. The new Visa will support not just the tourism industry but other related sectors as well. The new Visa will encourage repeat visitors to the UAE. Though the new Visa will not immediately increase the visitor arrivals, it will definitely maintain the competitiveness of the tourism industry in the UAE.
