With 5, 545 ITAs November is propelling towards Canada Express Entry targets for 2018. Four draws have been held so far in the first three weeks of November that has been a busy month. These weekly draws followed the announcement of the Government on November 1. The fresh multi-year immigration targets for 2018 -20202 were announced on this date.
Owing to the latest Canada Express Entry targets there could be a 20% hike in the number of candidates receiving the Canada PR. This would be through the 3 economic programs of the federal Express entry system.
Until November 2017, 28 draws have been held so far. Record-breaking 80, 500 Canada PR ITAs have been offered so far. This is more than twice the total ITAs issued in 2016 and 2015 with 33, 782 and 31, 063 respectively.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada -IRCC has also been able to largely adhere to its promise of processing Canada PR applications in 6 months. Canada Express Entry targets have been increased for the economic immigration categories in 2018.
To achieve the increased targets, IRCC will either have to conduct more frequent or larger draws or both. In either of these scenarios, the cut-off scores for CRS points would have to be decreased.
For most of the times, 2017 CRS cut-off scores have ranged from high of 450s to low of 400s. Most of the draws have occurred in the range of 430s, as quoted by the CIC News. This is already betterment over the draws held in 2016. In this year the CRS cut off scores were high and sizes of the draws were low. 453 were the least CRS score in 2016.
Thus a number of ITAs can be expected to be offered in 2018 than those were offered in 2017.
Some exceptional draws were also held in 2017 on November 1 and 26 May. Candidates with a nomination from a province and in Federal Skilled Trades Class wee retargeted in these two draws.
