2018 has begun with a record low CRS score for a first draw that offered 2, 750 Canada PR ITAs to candidates in the Express entry pool. The CRS score was 446 and is 22 points lesser than the first draw held in 2017. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada held the draw on 10 January 2018.
The score of 446 for 10 January draw is the same as the last draw that was held on 20 December 2017. This represents the least CRS threshold score for a first Express entry draw of the year after the launch of Express entry in 2015 January.
The rule of tie-breaker was once again made use by IRCC in this draw. The date and time for tie-break for this draw were 6:30:42 UTC, 18 November 2017, as quoted by the CIC News.
The 10 January draw is the first draw for 2018 that is anticipated to be a busy first half for the Express entry system of Canada. In the first half of 2017, 16 Express entry draws were held by IRCC. The CRS scores of 468 in this year’s first draw went on to go as low as 413 in May that was a record.
The candidates that have received the 2, 750 Canada PR ITAs have 90 days to submit a complete application for PR with all supporting documents. For the 3 economic immigration categories of Express entry, the admission target has been enhanced by 3, 200 in comparison with 2017.
IRCC has set higher targets of offering ITAs for Canada PR in 2018. This will imply more frequent or larger or both kind of draw being held in the Express entry pool. It will further diminish the CRS scores in the months ahead.
