More than 2.6 lakh travelers from India arrived in Australia in 2016 and the nation is expecting to welcome around 3 lakh travelers from India for 2017. This is chiefly due to the digital visa application facility for visitors, diverse promotion activities, and steady Australian dollar.
Nishant Kashikar the Country Manager at Tourism Australia for Gulf and India was quoted by the PTI as saying that double digit growth in arrivals of travelers from India is being witnessed from the last three years. The current year is the 4th fiscal year in a row that witnessed a growth of 15.3% and it hosted 2.5 lakh travelers from India.
The Country Manager at Tourism Australia further added that traffic for travelers from India will be propelled by the digital visa application facility launched by Australia. The diverse promotional activities by Tourism Australia and the stable Australian Dollar are also the contributing factors, added Nishant. He explained that apart from the growth of Diaspora from India in Australia, the economy of Australia has also been top notch by becoming the longest recession free economy in the world.
Kashikar added that the bullish sentiment in the market and the positive sentiment in the consumers will also facilitate the growth of travelers from India to Australia. Increased number of repeat travelers from India are also being witnessed said Nishant.
As of now, India occupies the 9th rank in terms of visitor source markets for Australia. Singapore, the UK, the US, China and New Zealand are the top 5 market sources for Australia. Kashikar said that if the current trends for Indian travelers continue India will the reach the top seven visitor source markets for Australia by 2025.
