Largest chunk of tourists who arrived in India on e-tourist visas in November came from the United Kingdom and the United States.
Travel Daily Media quoted the latest data revealed by the Ministry of Tourism which showed that 136,876 foreign tourists made their way to India using e-visas in November, which is an increase of 63.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
While citizens of UK comprised 22.3 percent of the total number, Americans stood second at 12.9 percent. The other countries from which large number of tourists came on e-visas to India were Russia, France, China, Germany, Australia, etc.
Most numbers of e-visas were issued at Delhi airport, where 45 percent of the total tourists arrived. It was followed by Mumbai, which received 18.5 percent of the total tourists, while Goa, Chennai and Bengaluru, received 14.2 percent, 5.3 percent and 5.2 percent of total tourists on e-visas, respectively.
In the first 11 months of 2016, 917,446 e-tourist visas were issued by India.
