Types of visas for partners and spouses in Australia

Australia offers various types of visas for spouses and de facto partners of Australian citizens, PR holders, and New Zealand citizens. All these visas are listed under the Family Migration program.   • Partner Visa (Temporary) (Subclass 820): This visa allows de facto partners or spouses of Australian citizens, PRs, or New Zealand citizens to migrate, live, work, or study in Australia as a permanent resident provisionally while their Subclass 801 visa is being processed.
  • Partner Visa (Permanent) (Subclass 801): This visa allows de facto partners or spouses of Australian citizens, PRs, or New Zealand citizens to migrate, live, work, or study in Australia with the status of a permanent resident.
